Hi there! Welcome to a little sliver of the internet where it’s totally acceptable to indulge in bacon, sauces, cheese, condiments, and of course, wine. Is this heaven? It can assure you it is for me.
I’m a self-taught “chef” [I use this term very lightly], dog mom, and wife, who adores cooking, baking, but mostly red wine. It certainly helps that my husband [read: dual-hatted sous chef who specializes in taste-testing and cleaning dishes, thank goodness] loves to eat.
The kitchen is a small sanctuary for me. Cooking is therapy. I have a love affair with food, and wholly enjoy the challenge of thinking outside the box to create recipes for friends and family to enjoy — and of course, sharing them with you.
The trial and error is endless, but that’s what I love the most. I can’t help but smirk at the days when my master plan to whip up a dish is a total flop, and my husband and I laughing our way to the closest fast food place for dinner.
I consider cooking an art, and baking a science. Which is probably why 95% of the recipes on here aren’t sweets — my joy of cooking stems mostly from the creativity that recipes allow for. So let’s just say I’m not so much of a measurer [is that a word?], and live life on the edge [kidding. I definitely don’t.] by throwing ingredients together.
Which brings me to my next thing — I have few indulgences in life that I pretty much consider rules to live by: 1) salty over sweet (again, desserts…) 2) everything is better with bacon 3) there’s no such thing as too much sauce, and 4) always wine. Always.
In my spare time that I don’t spend in the kitchen, I have a full-time job in communications. I’m a not-so-closet introvert who loves hiking, exploring the outdoors [so, basically finding the outdoor tables in Virginia wine country], binge watching addictive shows on netflix, gardening [not weeding], cuddling with my husband and our 100 lb. dog on a couch that is undoubtedly too small for the three of us.
I am terrified of bugs, I love camping [yes, I have no idea how those two happened], and I basically consider exercise 8 oz. curls of wine. I also eat dinner as early as possible, consider it a successful morning if I make to to noon without eating my lunch [trust me, it never happens], and can’t stand being late for things.
And, that about sums it up! Nothing more to me.
