Asparagus is one of those vegetables my sous chef and I routinely have as a side dish for dinner. And they’re so easy to dress up whatever way you like to fit your main dish perfectly (because nobody likes naked asparagus, right?). We made the oh so delicious Honey-Soy Chicken Thighs for dinner and wanted an Asian-inspired side dish to perfectly complement the chicken. And this, my friends, did just that. These asparagus were great – so much so that my sous chef said they were his favorite asparagus yet! So, let’s get to it.
Sesame-Soy Grilled Asparagus:
- 1 bunch asparagus
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons toasted sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon sesame seeds
- Salt and pepper to taste
Alright, let’s begin by firing up our grill to about 375 degrees. Then, trim the ends of the asparagus.
Then, toss with the soy sauce, sesame oil, salt and pepper.
You can let marinate for a few minutes while the grill preheats. Once it’s ready to go, throw the asparagus on for about 2-3 minutes. Flip them (as best as possible) and cook for another 2-3 minutes. Remove from the grill, top with sesame seeds and enjoy!
As much as I’d love to make a wine recommendation for a side dish, you should really pick your poison based on the entree. So, with that, enjoy!
